Revd Dom's Leaving 'Do'
The Revd Dom Jones and his wife, Hannah, were given a warm send-off by over 130 friends and colleagues from all the congregations in the Eight Saints Cluster at a special service held in the St Feock Church Community Hall at 4pm on 9 July.

The Chacewater Choir and Musicians led the worship, with contributions from Perran-ar-Worthal Handbell Ringers, puppets manned by the Stithians All Age Worship Team, a combined Open the Book team, and prayers led by the Devoran All Age Worship Team.

In his short address, Dom took as his theme the words of the hymn ‘O Jesus I have promised’ and explained how they had been a comfort and support to him at key stages in his journey through ministry since his confirmation.

He said that saying ‘goodbyes’ was always difficult; and that rather than him being a teacher during his time in the Cluster, more often than not it was he and Hannah who had learnt from all the people with whom they had been in such close contact.

Concluding, he said that ‘Goodbye’ means ‘God be with you’ and that was his leaving message. “We shall think of you and hope you will think of us, especially when you sing the words of this hymn,” he said.

Dom and Hannah received gifts and cards from several groups and individual parishes, together with a framed montage of all the churches in the Cluster. He has already been licensed by the Bishop of Winchester and the Bishop of Portsmouth, and begins his role as Lead Chaplain to the Hampshire Police in August. Hannah begins teaching in her new school in September.
